[From Malaysia to the World: Starting a Career in Cross-Border Disputes]
The practice of law is no longer confined within borders.
This session with Lim Chee Wee Partnership (LCWP) explores how incoming pupils and young lawyers in Malaysia can build a career in cross-border disputes and international arbitration, grounded in a strong domestic foundation.
We will examine Malaysia’s growing role as a regional hub for investment and the disputes which follow, including developments such as the adoption of the UNCITRAL Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency and the establishment of the International Commercial and Admiralty Division of the High Court.
We will also share practical insights into cross-border work, from asset recovery and tracing fund flows across jurisdictions, to handling disputes involving regional players, and what it takes to build a meaningful international disputes career from Malaysia.
